Description
The Hall, located to the north of School House at Thomas Alleyne's High School, is a late 18th-century building. It features a roughcast exterior with stone and stucco dressings, standing two storeys high with an attic and basement. A mid-19th-century gabled ashlar porch projects from the center, adorned with a moulded frieze and cornice, and includes a sash window set in a moulded architrave with a cambered head. To the left of the porch are two sash windows, and to the right is one, all framed in moulded stucco with cambered heads. The building has bands at both the ground and third floors, quoins, and moulded stucco eaves. The porch doorway is surrounded by rusticated stonework with a segmental arched head and keyblock, featuring double panelled doors, side-lights, and a plain fanlight, topped with slate roofing. The rear elevation, which formerly faced the garden, is noted for its good appearance. Inside, there is a fine pine staircase and Adam style decorations that were added in the early 20th century.
