Description
The central brewing tower at Marston's Brewery was built in 1875 and designed by W & S T Martin of Nottingham. This structure is made of red brick and consists of three and four storeys. It features nine bays, each recessed and arched with blue brick and stone rings, which continue as bands. The tower has plain stone keyblocks, semi-circular headed windows that generally retain their original cast iron lights, and stone sills supported by corbels. The eaves are corbelled brick, topped with a stone cornice. On the right-hand side, there is a three-light attic storey, which includes a metal water tank with panelled sides. The ground storey has two small modern projecting bays and a semi-circular headed doorway in the second bay from the right-hand side, flanked by a modern canted bay window.
