Description

Red Gables is a house located on the west side of High Street, dating from 1756, although its core may be earlier. It is constructed of blue and red chequered brick and features a steep roof covered with old tiles, along with a well-crafted moulded eaves cornice. The gable ends are capped with stone, and there is a stone plinth. The building is two storeys high and has four sash windows, each with plain stone lintels, moulded rusticated keyblocks, and rusticated stone surrounds. A side door has a round head with a keyblock inscribed "E R W 1747" and features a six-panel door set in a rusticated surround, topped with a stone lintel that includes a large triple keyblock.
