Description

Millholme is a house built in the early 19th century, with alterations and additions made in the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a low pitched hipped concrete tile roof, along with a brick ridge stack and integral gable end stacks.

The south elevation showcases a three-storey main house on the right, accompanied by two set-back two-storey extensions on the left. The main house has three bays with glazing bar sashes. The sashes on the first and second floors, located on the left and right, have shaped lintels that are grooved as voussoirs and feature triple raised keys. The second-floor centre sash has a moulded architrave, while the first-floor centre sash has both a moulded architrave and a cornice hood. The ground floor includes mid-19th century canted bays on the left and right, which have plate glass sashes and openwork parapets. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed two-leaf door with a moulded architrave and pediment, and all windows have sill bands. The house is finished with a moulded eaves cornice beneath the overhanging eaves.

Millholme was built for the Manager of Tutbury Mill and is documented as being completed in 1831, as noted in the Staffordshire County Advertiser on July 23, 1831.
