Description
Newton Hurst Farmhouse is a mid-19th century farmhouse constructed of red brick with fishscale tile roofs. It features brick integral end and ridge stacks with squared section shafts. The building has an irregular plan made up of four ranges that form two staggered L-shapes, with the long arms oriented north-south and the short arms east-west. The farmhouse is two storeys tall and has three bays across the front, with a central projecting gable and set-back wings on both the left and right. The windows are casements with decorative glazing bars, and there is a bay window with a hipped roof on the ground floor to the right. The first-floor windows on the left and right have small gables above them. A half-glazed door is located to the left within a lean-to porch, and all gables are adorned with decorative barge boards. This farmhouse is noted as a complete example of its type.
