Description
The Swan Hotel is an 18th-century building located on the north side of The Wharfage in Ironbridge. It is constructed of whitened brick and stands three storeys tall. The façade features three wood mullioned and transomed windows, with the outer windows having three lights, likely originally fitted with leaded lights. These windows have cambered heads. The central entrance is framed by an open pedimented doorcase that dates from the original construction. The building has a tiled roof.
To the left, there is a projecting section that is one storey and a basement, which includes two large sash windows. The central entrance features a six-panel door adorned with a cornice and elaborate brackets. The front of this wing is gabled and rises directly from the road, showcasing a wide double sash window beneath a cambered head, with a three-light mullioned and transomed window above it. Adjacent to the left is a similar gabled structure that includes a loft door leading to the basement, first floor, and attic. Part of this section towards the rear was formerly a malthouse and features a louvred cupola.
