Description
Talbot Chapel is a 13th-century south chancel chapel, which is the only remaining part of the Old Church located to the north of the current church. It now serves as the mortuary chapel for the Talbot family and features a large monument dedicated to Thomas Talbot, who died in 1686, and his wife, who passed away in 1706. This monument is a standing wall structure with large twisted columns on either side of an inscription, topped with a segmental pediment, flanked by two putti and enclosed by iron railings. The chapel itself is a small sandstone building with a tiled gable-ended roof. It has two pairs of lancet windows on the north side, a wide blocked arch on the south side, and five lancet lights arranged under a single arch at the east end. The west doorway features a double-chamfered, two-centred arch.
