Description
This 18th-century brick house, known as Lilleshall Hugh's Bridge or The Incline, is divided into two residences. It features a tiled roof with parapeted gable ends and stands two stories tall with an attic. The building has a two-window range, where No. 3 retains its original casements, while No. 2 has modern casements and an added modern attic storey. The central entrance has a boarded door, and the door and window openings are segmental arched. The house is located alongside The Donnington Wood Canal, which was constructed when the Earl Gower and Company was established in 1764. Lord Gower, who was the brother-in-law of the Duke of Bridgewater and later became the Marquis of Stafford, had a son who became the Duke of Sutherland in 1833.
