Description
The Rectory is a house that appears to date from around 1840, although it may have an earlier core, as evidenced by two 18th-century casements on the side of the north-east wing. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and features Tudor style dressings, topped with a low-pitched tiled roof. The building has two storeys and consists of four bays, with crosswings that project slightly at the front, each adorned with stone-coped gables and moulded kneelers; the right-hand gable projects less than the left. There are two sets of 3 and 4-light mullion and transom casements with glazing bars set in chamfered openings, complete with drip moulds. On the first floor, there is a left-hand canted bay supported by brackets. To the left of the centre, a gabled stone porch features a 4-centred arch with a drip mould. The roof has two ridge stacks, each with groups of octagonal brick shafts. The crosswings extend further at the rear, where a stair tower is located at the angle of the south-west wing.
