Description
Longton Cemetery Chapels are cemetery chapels built in 1868. They are timber-framed and feature Welsh slate roofs. Each chapel has three bays on either side of the entrance arch, which is topped by a tower. This tower has a wide base and a tapering stage with gablets below a narrower upper stage that includes ornate timber panels and a small spire with a wrought-iron weather vane. The main entrance features a segmental archway with a gable above, which contains small stained glass quatrefoil windows and decorative timber panelling. The chapels are accessed through the main entrance arch and have a range of three windows with leaded lower lights and quatrefoil panels above. The eaves cornice is coved, and the interior includes tongue and groove panelling.
