Description

The buildings at the north-west end of the street frontage are part of the St Mary's Pottery, owned by Royal Doulton. Constructed in 1862 and extended in 1888, these two and three-storey brick structures feature terracotta dressings and plain tiled roofs. The main building has two storeys and thirteen bays arranged in a 6-1-6 pattern. It has a central pediment above the entrance arch, which includes a Palladian window and a cartouche inscribed with "St Mary's Mount Pleasant, 1862". This entrance bay is flanked by round-arched windows set in brick architraves, with rubbed brick arched heads and keyblocks. There are continuous stuccoed sill bands and a stuccoed eaves cornice.

To the left, there is an adjoining range added in 1888, which has three storeys and eight bays arranged in a 1-6-1 pattern. This section features outer gabled bays with lower inserted windows and tripartite windows above, adorned with terracotta panels beneath them and a stone string course. The apex of the pediment contains a terracotta panel with the date in a shield, surrounded by foliate swags. String courses extend across the facade, forming round-arched hood moulds over the windows. The overhanging eaves are supported by paired console brackets that continue across the base of the pediment. Other buildings that are part of the current pottery works were added between 1904 and 1969 and are not included in this listing.
