Description
Nos. 1 and 1A Queen Street are shop premises dating from the early 19th century. The building is constructed of painted brick and features a slate roof. It stands three stories high and has three bays, with renewed shop fronts on either side of a central doorway. The first floor has 2-pane sash windows that are topped with flat-arched stuccoed heads and have continuous sill bands. The attic storey has renewed casement windows. A moulded cornice runs along the parapet eaves, and there are gable-end stacks. This building was used by Arnold Bennett as "Clayhangers Steam Printing Works."
