Description
Botvyle Farmhouse is a farmhouse that features an early 19th-century front with rear wings that date back to the 17th century or earlier. The front range is cement rendered, and the render is believed to cover a timber frame on the side. The main front range has a low-pitched hipped slate roof, while the rear wings have plain-tiled gabled roofs. There is an integral brick eaves stack on the side and a spurred central stack with a reduced shaft. The main front range has a plan that faces three earlier rear wings of varying lengths.
The exterior of the front is a two-storey structure with a three-window range. The first floor features 6/6 sash windows, while the ground floor has tripartite sashes arranged as 2/2:6/6:2/2. The central door is six-panelled and set in a pilastered frame, topped with a fanlight that has radial bars and a bracketed flat hood. On the left side, there is a two-window range that is split across the new and old wings, with mostly 2-light wood casements flanking a central projecting gabled porch. The rear and right side mostly feature 20th-century renewed wood casements and a glazed door leading to the rear wings. The interior has not been inspected.
