Description
Lady's Bridge Lodge is a lodge built around 1808 to 1812 for Charlotte, Lady Dungannon, with later additions and alterations. It features roughly coursed cobblestones sourced from a nearby river and tree trunks used as wall posts, topped with a slate roof that has fretted bargeboards and carved pendants. The building is designed in a U-shape with a slightly later full-length lean-to at the rear, showcasing a Rustic Gothic style.
The lodge is a single-storey structure with ogee-headed windows in the gables and outer walls, the latter still retaining latticed lights. The central entrance consists of a nail-studded plank door set in a pointed wood surround. There are two prominent integral stacks on the back wall. The lean-to at the rear is made of uncoursed limestone rubble, except for the cobblestones on the side facing the river. It may be slightly later but also features pointed Gothic windows, one of which has Y-tracery and latticed lights. An inscription at Brynkinalt in Clwyd indicates that Lady Dungannon enhanced the associated park between 1808 and 1812, suggesting that the lodge was constructed as part of this landscaping project.
