Description
This is a barn located approximately 10 metres south of Mere Oak Farmhouse, dating from the 17th century with later alterations. The barn features a corrugated iron exterior over a timber frame, with a concrete block plinth and weatherboarded gable ends, topped by a corrugated iron roof. It has two levels and includes two 20th-century windows on the west side, along with an entrance through a 20th-century door in the north gable end.
Inside, inspection was difficult as the barn was filled with hay during the last survey in November 1985. However, wall posts were visible, and the framing is reported to be substantially intact. The roof is structured in three bays, featuring Queen-strut trusses at the north gable end and in the first bay from the north, with V-struts from the collar. The second bay from the north has raking struts from the tie beams that support curved principals. Mere Oak Farmhouse is not included in this listing.
