Description
The garden wall, gate, and gate piers located approximately 5 metres south of The Manor House are notable features dating from 1694, with the gate and an extension of the wall added around 1820. The wall is constructed from dressed grey sandstone and measures approximately 30 metres long and one metre high, topped with chamfered coping. To the left of the gateway, there is a section of the wall likely from the early 19th century, which lacks coping but has a chamfered top. The central gateway features pierced square-section piers with fluted plinths and pyramidal caps, along with a pair of wrought-iron gates adorned with acanthus spearhead railings, dog bars, and scrolled and ogee braces. This structure is part of a close group with The Manor House. Although Pevsner cites the date on the wall as 1624, this may refer to another date not recorded at the time of the survey in December 1985.
