Description

The Stone House, located at No 3, Lower Wyke, is a substantial farmhouse dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of stone and has two storeys plus an attic. The front facade features three modern windows and a modern doorcase. On the side, there are two small Tudor-style two-light mullioned windows in the basement, which likely belonged to an earlier house on the site. The building has two stone stacks with wide chimney breasts, one of which is associated with the earlier structure. The roof is covered with old tiles and there is one dormer. A tablet at the rear of the house is dated 1688. Inside, there is a massive oak staircase from the late 17th century.
