Description
The village war memorial in Albrighton is a wooden calvary beneath a curved canopy, featuring a Christ figure carved from olive wood. It stands two metres high overall. On the shaft below the figure, the years 1914-1918 are carved, followed by 19 names listed by surname, and 1939-1945, followed by eight names. The calvary is set on a two-stepped stone base.
The memorial was unveiled in 1920 and is currently maintained by the parish council, serving as a focal point for commemorative activities. It is designated at Grade II as a tribute to the members of the community who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars. Its calvary design reflects the roadside calvaries seen in Flanders during the First World War.
