Description

The coach house and stable block, now partly used as a garage, likely dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick in monk bond and features deep eaves beneath hipped slate roofs. The building has a central two-storey block flanked by set-back one-storey wings.

On the north front, the central block has an integral brick end stack on the right. It consists of three bays, with two-light casement windows on the first floor. The ground floor includes a segmental-headed wooden cross-window to the left and a boarded door to the right, which has a segmental-headed two-part overlight above it. There is a central porch with a parapeted gable that leads to a pair of large boarded doors under a segmental head.

The left-hand stable block features a segmental-headed wooden cross-window to the left and a segmental-headed doorway to the right, although the door was missing at the time of the survey. The right-hand stable range has a segmental-headed recess on the right with a two-light window, a blocked doorway to the left with an inserted two-light window, and a central segmental-headed two-leaf boarded door. The rear of the central block has three bays, with a boarded loft door to the right and a cast iron hoist. There are also two boarded garage doors in the right-hand return front.

Adjoining to the east is a short section of wall, approximately 3 metres high with a quadrant curve to the south and stone coping, which includes a blocked segmental-headed doorway to the west. Inside the left-hand stable wing, there are stalls with curved-topped dividers and octagonal posts topped with globe finials, along with hay racks and a loose box to the right. These buildings are part of a complete early and mid-19th century model farm complex associated with the National Trust's Attingham Park Estate Vernacular Building Survey.
