Description

The building is a malthouse, dating from the late 16th or early 17th century. It is constructed of sandstone ashlar with a timber frame and brick infill, covered by a roof of brick tile and corrugated sheet. The building has two storeys and an attic, set over a cellar. It comprises timber-framed gabled wings to either side of a main stone range. The stone range has a chamfered offset North gable wall with a regular pattern of two three-light stone mullioned windows with chamfered reveals on each floor. The gable is rendered and features plain bargeboards. The two-bay west wing has stone ground floor walls with square panel timber framing to the first floor and gable; jeweled corner posts, a cambered tie beam, and an arched collar are exposed in the gable wall. A south extension contains a staircase.
