Description
The Old White Horse is a house that was formerly an inn and has now returned to domestic use. It dates from the early 19th century and has undergone later additions and alterations. The building is constructed of red brick and features a slate roof with wide, spreading eaves and verges, along with external end stacks. It stands three storeys high and has a five-window front, with 16-paned glazing bar sashes that have gauged heads. The first floor has a central window that is blind, while the second floor features windows of reduced proportions that are also blind and painted to imitate real windows. The right ground-floor window is flanked by mid-19th century horned glazing bar sashes.
The central entrance is marked by an open-pedimented pilastered doorcase that includes panelled reveals, a semi-circular fanlight, and a six-panel door. There is a Salop Fire Insurance Plate numbered 14368 located in the centre on the first floor. To the left, there is a low brick projection that was formerly a shop, which has large 19th-century windows with tumbled brick heads flanking a central door.
