Description

Rose Cottage is a late 17th-century farmhouse, with later additions and alterations. It is timber framed with painted brick infill and gable ends, covered by a machine tile roof. The building follows a baffle-entry plan, originally comprising 3 or possibly 4 framed bays. It is a single storey with an attic. The timber framing is arranged in rectangular panels, three from the cill to the wall-plate, with later horizontal members added. The windows are from the mid-19th century, featuring multi-paned casements with bracketed gabled hoods, two to the left and one to the right of the gabled brick porch. The porch has a boarded door and a semi-circular fanlight. Three gabled eaves dormers match the ground-floor casements. A reddish-brown brick ridge stack is located immediately to the right of the porch, and an integrated brick end stack is on the left. The interior was not inspected, but is likely to be of interest.
