Description
The gate piers, steps, gates, railings, and section of ha-ha wall are located approximately 40 meters south of Hardwick Hall. They date from the late 18th century, with the gates and railings added in the 19th century. The gate piers are made of sandstone ashlar and are short, square structures topped with moulded capping. They are accessed by a flight of three ramped steps. The ha-ha wall is constructed from regularly coursed and dressed sandstone blocks. The ornamental cast-iron gates and railings feature openwork 'cages' in the center. The entire structure extends approximately 45 meters in length on either side.
