Description
The former stable block, located approximately 7 metres north of the Bell Inn, dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed of squared and coursed sandstone, with some brick at the rear, and features an old tile roof. The building is designed in a Gothic style and has an L-plan, standing at one and a half storeys. The left gable end includes a blind loft window, while the front has six blind square and straight-sided arched windows flanking a central blind straight-sided arched doorway. This stable block is part of a series of unusual Gothick outbuildings built on the Tong Estate by George Durant the younger, who died in 1884.
