Description
Munslow House, formerly known as The Old Parsonage, is a rectory that has been converted into a house. It dates from the late 18th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th century. The building is constructed of ashlar stone with coursed stone rubble and has a brick rear wing. It features a hipped slate roof and two lateral ridge stacks.
The southeast front has three storeys and a three-window range, with 8/12 sashes and 8/4 sashes on the upper floor. The central bay is slightly advanced and contains a 6/6 sash with a 6/3 sash above. All sashes are topped with flat keyed ashlar lintels. A central projecting stone portico from the 19th century features two pairs of Ionic columns, a plain entablature, and a pediment. The entrance includes a six-panel double door, an inner ashlar doorcase with an open pediment on plain bracketed pilasters, and a radial fanlight, with a partly glazed and panelled inner door.
On the southwest side, there are round-headed windows with interlacing Gothick-style traceried wood glazing bars and leaded lights on the lower storeys, with a three-light casement above. To the right, there is a two-storey canted bay window with a hipped slate roof, featuring 6/6 sashes and 4/4 sashes on the side faces over 6/9 sashes with 4/6 sashes on the side faces.
The northeast side has a large window with thin cross-mullion glazing bars on the lower floors and a blocked window above that is painted to imitate the others. To the right, there is a round-headed window with interlacing Gothick-style traceried wood glazing bars and leaded lights on the first floor, along with a three-light casement above, a wood mullion and transom window, and a tall thin casement at ground level. Most openings have brick lintels, except for the lower left, which has a flat keyed ashlar lintel. There is also a brick-tiled gabled two-storey rear extension wing on the right side. The interior has not been inspected.
