Description
The Eyecatcher, located approximately 460 metres southeast of Berwick House, is likely from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed from uncoursed red sandstone, breccia, and conglomerate rubble, featuring red sandstone ashlar and red brick dressings, with red brick walls at the rear. This structure is the remains of former farm buildings, designed with a gable end facing Berwick House, and styled as a Gothic eyecatcher. The gable end includes flanking buttresses with chamfered offsets and narrow arched slits. There are stepped triple lancets with chamfered offsets and rounded brick reveals, along with remnants of an opening at the apex of the gable. Below, there is an arched doorway with three orders and rounded brick reveals, featuring a pair of boarded doors with stone hinge blocks. The Eyecatcher is situated on a rise within the park, positioned at a distance from Berwick House.
