Description
The farm buildings located approximately 15 metres to the south-west of Elms Farmhouse consist of a barn and cow houses, which have been converted into cow houses and a loft. These structures date from the mid-17th century and 18th century, with some late 19th-century alterations. They are timber-framed with red brick nogging, featuring some herringbone patterns, and are underbuilt and extended in red brick. The roof is made of corrugated asbestos.
The framing includes small square panels with corner braces and long straight tension braces, arranged in an L-plan. The buildings are one storey with a loft. The 18th-century brick range has a high plinth and cruciform vents in the loft. There are boarded loft doors, stable-type doors, and a pair of boarded barn doors at the angle. The gable end of the south-east range displays a collar and tie-beam truss with queen struts. Elms Farmhouse itself is not included in this listing.
