Description
Upper Edgebold Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the early 17th century, with later additions and alterations. The building features painted brick that conceals a timber frame and has a plain tile roof. It consists of a hall that appears to have two and a half framed bays, with a cross-wing that projects slightly to the left. There is a lower mid-19th century range at the rear of the cross-wing. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has 20th century casement windows, with one on each floor of the cross-wing and one on the ground floor to the right of the hall range. The entrance is through a mid-20th century flat-roofed porch located at the angle between the ranges, and there is a prominent red brick ridge stack directly above. The left return of the cross-wing has an exposed wall post, and the front gable displays boxed wall-plate and purlin ends. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is noted to have chamfered spine beams in the ground floor rooms. The house is surrounded by a moat to the north and west.
