Description
Upper Woodcote is a farmhouse, now a house, likely built in the early to mid-17th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick infill, which is partly rendered, set on a high painted brick plinth, and includes a painted brick stair tower. The roof is covered with slate. The framing consists of square panels, with three panels extending from the sole plate to the wall plate, and long straight tension braces. The building probably has three framed bays, is two storeys tall, and has a gable-lit attic. There is a brick stack off the ridge to the south-west and a brick end stack to the north-west. The windows are mainly 19th-century wooden casements with two and three lights. A full-height gabled stair tower is located to the north-east, featuring a later hipped-roofed porch at the angle. There have been further additions to the north-west. The interior has not been inspected. Upper Woodcote was home to the Hosier family in the 16th century and the Jones family from the early 17th century until the end of the 18th century.
