Description

Lady House Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates back to around 1600, with extensions made in the late 18th century and late 20th century. The building features a rendered timber frame along with rendered brick additions, topped with plain tile and slate roofs. It has a baffle-entry plan consisting of three or four framed bays, which was formerly jettied at the front. A short range was added at right angles to the rear in the late 18th century, along with a roughly contemporary range parallel to the rear. There is also a slightly lower late 20th-century addition to the left.

The farmhouse is two storeys tall with gable-lit attics and has irregular window placements. On the first floor, there are four late 20th-century casements, with the rightmost window featuring a 19th-century segmental head. The ground floor has three windows, with the second from the left positioned where a former doorway used to be. A 20th-century lean-to porch is located to the right, covering a 17th-century plank door that was likely moved from its original location. A prominent brown brick ridge stack is situated slightly to the left of the center. A straight line in the render below the first-floor windows indicates the presence of a former jetty, and the outline of a long straight tension brace is visible to the left on the ground floor.

Inside, the right ground-floor room contains a massive deep-chamfered spine beam with straight-cut stops and flat, heavy joists. There is an infilled inglenook fireplace and two exposed wall posts. A Salop Fire Insurance plate numbered 8842 is fixed to the ceiling beam. The late 20th-century addition to the left is not of special architectural interest.
