Description
The railings and retaining wall adjoining Tern Bridge to the west were likely built in the late 18th century. The structure features a red brick retaining wall topped with grey sandstone coping, supporting wrought iron railings that are approximately 100 meters long. The railings have square section spear-head designs with moulded bases, square section standards with large spear-heads, moulded bases, and curved stanchions at the rear. The railings curve over the parapet of the Tern Bridge abutment to the east. At the time of the survey in January 1985, the railings were noted to be damaged.
