Description
This building is a row of almshouses dated 1829, located in Dodington. It is constructed from grey sandstone ashlar with red brick used for the sides and rear, topped with a plain tile roof. Designed in the Tudor Gothic style, the structure is one storey high and features a chamfered plinth and three parapeted gables at the front, each with chamfered copings. There are two square stone ridge stacks with moulded cornices, which have been heightened later with red brick.
The facade consists of eight bays with margin-light sash windows that have chamfered reveals. There are four 20th-century boarded doors located in the central and end bays, also featuring chamfered reveals and returned hoodmoulds. The end gables have narrow rectangular openings that are chamfered. The central gable displays a moulded lozenge-shaped panel inscribed with "BUILT / AND ENDOWED / BY / ELIZABETH LANGFORD / IN THE YEAR / MDCCCXXIX". This gable also has a hoodmould with lozenge-shaped stops and a raised scroll beneath it, which reads "DA GLORIAM DEO".
