Description
This cowhouse, located approximately 50 meters northeast of Upper Sweeney Farmhouse, dates from the late 18th century and has undergone later alterations. It is constructed of uncoursed limestone rubble and features a corrugated iron roof with coped verges on stone kneelers at the left gable end. The building has two levels, with five flat-headed doors on the ground floor, and an eaves hatch above the central door, along with square nesting holes to the left and right. Inside, there are 19th-century cowstalls and a continuous hay loft. The roof is a double-purlin design spanning three bays, supported by raking struts from tie beams to the principal rafters. This cowhouse is included for its group value.
