Description
The Old School is a building dating from around 1850, originally constructed as a school and now serving as a private house. It is made of red brick and features a roof covered with fishscale tiles, separated by plain tiled bands, and topped with ornamental cresting along the ridge. The structure is two storeys high and consists of four bays, with two projecting gabled sections that have pointed finials, yellow brick labels, and cills. There is a gabled porch with a Tudor arch and hoodmould.
The first floor windows are original mid-19th century casements with Gothic heads and small panes, while the ground floor windows have been replaced with late 20th century versions. The building has three paired stacks with ornamental flues located behind the ridge. Additionally, there is an old school bell housed under a gabled canopy at the right gable end. The architectural style of The Old School can be compared to that of the Church of England Primary School in Beckbury.
