Description
This is a barn located approximately 80 meters northwest of Harnage Grange, dating from the mid-17th century. It features a weatherboarded timber frame set on a coursed sandstone rubble plinth, with some red brick nogging on the northwest side, and has a plain tile roof. The barn consists of four framed bays arranged east-west and includes a former threshing floor with opposing wagon entrances in the second bay from the east.
The framing consists of square panels, with three extending from the sole-plate to the wall-plate. On the south front, there is a boarded loft door to the left, a pair of central casement windows positioned high, a boarded door to the left, and a pair of large boarded doors to the right. There are also large boarded doors at the rear.
Inside, the barn features collar and tie-beam trusses with queen-struts, and pairs of purlins supported by windbraces. This barn is part of a larger farm complex that includes two square foldyards located to the northwest of Harnage Grange.
