Description
Sheraton House is a substantial detached house dating from the late 18th century, located on St John's Hill. It features a well-proportioned symmetrical facade made of red brick, standing two storeys high with an attic. The front has five sash windows, including a central Venetian window. The entrance boasts a moulded wood doorcase with fluted pilasters, a swagged and dentilled open pediment, a fanlight with Gothic glazing bars, and a six-panelled door. A deep string course runs along the first floor, and there are Venetian windows on either side of the ground storey. The house is topped with a wood modillion eaves cornice and has three dormers, with the central one prominently featuring a moulded pediment. The roof is covered with slates. Inside, the original staircase has been preserved.
