Description
The Bedlam War Memorial is a First World War memorial with later additions for the Second World War. It is square in shape and constructed from roughly-hewn stone.
Located approximately 5 meters east of 8 Titterstone Cottages, the memorial stands about 3.5 meters tall. It features a three-stepped base topped by a plinth, which has an engraved plaque on its south side. The plaque honors those who died between 1914 and 1919, reading: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD / AND LOVING MEMORY OF / (NAMES) / WHO DIED 1914-1919 / FOR KING AND COUNTRY." At the top of the memorial is a Celtic wheel cross carved with "RIP" at its center.
Surrounding the bottom step of the base are low post and chain railings. Additionally, there is an inscription on the upper step of the base that states: "To the Glory of God and in memory of the men of / Titterstone 1939 -1945 / (Names)."
