Description
No. 25 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It features a timber frame that has been partly refaced or rebuilt in painted brick. The front gable is boarded, while the rear gable is rendered. The roof is covered with plain tiles. The building consists of two framed bays that are positioned at right angles to the road and has two storeys plus an attic. The front gable juts out and has a quarter-round moulded bressumer, with plain barge boards. There are integral lateral brick stacks on both the left and right sides, with the left-hand stack having been rebuilt above the roof around 1900.
On the first floor, there is a 19th-century three-light wooden casement window. The early 20th-century shop front projects and features plate-glass windows that curve around the corner to the right, with a glazed door located off-centre to the left.
Inside, the roof includes chamfered purlins and straight wind braces. The rear room on the first floor has two chamfered ceiling beams and a framed rear wall with angle braces. Other visible framing includes posts and wall plates, and the floors are made of old floorboards.
