Description
The Cedars is a house, originally dating to 1722, with substantial remodelling in the late 18th century and later additions and alterations. Constructed of red brick on a stone plinth, with stone plat bands and a moulded eaves cornice, it has a concrete tiled roof and two brick end stacks.
The house is three storeys high and has three bays, featuring late 18th-century sash windows with plastered lintels, with reduced proportions to the top floor. The central entrance has a 20th-century door under an early 19th-century radiating fanlight, sheltered by an early 19th-century Tuscan porch. Blind segment-headed windows are found in the gable end to the south. A British Insurance plate bearing a lion emblem is visible on a range extending at right angles to the rear. The roof, possibly originally gabled to the front, was raised to enable the insertion of the second floor windows and the eaves cornice.
