Description

The forecourt walls and piers, located approximately 8 metres in front of the former Church of Saint Catherine, date from around 1836. They are constructed of grey sandstone ashlar and consist of a pair of low walls that flank the entrance, which is canted towards the centre and shows evidence of former railings. The walls are complemented by panelled square end piers with plinths and semi-circular caps that resemble the style of architect John Soane. At the time of the survey in November 1986, there were no gates present. These structures are included for their group value.
