Description
The granary, located approximately 50 metres to the north-west of Woodlands Farmhouse, dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with some sandstone dressings and features a slate roof. The building is two storeys tall and the loft is designed as a 2-by-3-bay temple. Notable architectural elements include a stone floor band, blind round-arched arcading on the south and east sides with stone impost blocks, and a pedimented gable end on the east with a blind semi-circular recess in the tympanum. The west end has an altered ground-floor door, a segmental-headed boarded loft door, and a pigeon loft in the apex of the gable. The interior has not been inspected. The loft is part of a group of farm buildings situated to the north-west of Woodlands Farmhouse and has been designed to be visually appealing from the former main drive to the east and from the house, which is visible above a garden wall to the south-east.
