Description
Highland is a farmhouse with a core dating from the 15th century, featuring additions and alterations from the late 17th century and further changes in the mid- to late 19th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and has a stone slate roof that is hipped at the later wing. The building has a T-shaped plan, with the earlier wing aligned east to west and a later wing adjoining it to the west.
There is a through-passage to the west of the earlier wing, which has an east gable-end stack, a north gable-end stack, and a lateral stack on the later wing. The earlier wing is single storey with an attic, featuring a 20th-century flat-roofed dormer window with a two-light window, as well as a gabled dormer with a two-light casement window to the left of center. The ground floor has a three-light casement window to the right of the entrance, which is sheltered by a gabled canopy, and a part-glazed door.
The later wing, which is two storeys high, has heavy buttressing on the south side and includes a three-light casement window facing south. Inside the earlier range, there are two cruck trusses with chamfered blades.
