Description

The buildings at 87 and 88 East Street are a pair of 18th-century dwellings, later adapted for use as offices and accommodation. They are constructed of painted brick and have a slate roof, partially covered in decorative turned slates. The buildings are three storeys high and feature a cellar, with a two-window front. The windows are 6/6 sashes, without horns, set in beaded casings and situated under segmental arches; smaller 3/3 sashes are above. Number 87, on the left, shows alterations from the 19th century, including a 2-panel door and a 20th-century plate-glass window within the original window opening. Number 88, on the right, has a 19th-century part-glazed 4-panel door and a 6/6 sash window, both under segmental arches. A storeyband runs across the facade. The interior of the first floor features 4-panel doors with architraves, a cornice, and a fireplace. The ground floor has 4-panel and plank doors and a decorative fire surround.
