Description
This barn, attached to the west end of Bush Farmhouse, dates from the 17th century. It features a timber-frame construction with weatherboard and brick panels that include vent holes, topped by a continuous tiled roof. The barn consists of five bays. On either side of the central entrance on the south side, the roof extends down below the eaves in continuous cat-slides: the west side is open and supported by posts, while the east side has stone walls that once housed a machine room. Inside, there is a threshing floor. The outer trusses have braces connecting the principals to the tie-beams on knee-braces, and the inner trusses feature queen posts that support collars, each of which is centrally supported by a plank post. This barn is part of a picturesque agricultural group.
