Description

The Rudhall Almshouses, located on Church Street, consist of numbers 5 to 9. The building has a 14th-century foundation, but it was largely rebuilt in 1575 by William Rudhall. It is a two-storey structure constructed primarily from red sandstone with a tiled roof. The facade features five gables, each containing a small two-light casement window with stone mullions and leaded panes. The doorways have four-centred arches. Inside, the roof structure incorporates king and queen posts. The almshouses are of group value, representing a significant example of Tudor-period charitable building.
