Description

The Stallard memorial, located about 3 metres south of the chancel of the Church of St Mary, is an early 19th-century memorial. It features a sundial signed "Duppa Jenkins Sculpsit," made of brass, limestone, and ashlar. The brass sundial is mounted on a white limestone pillar, which stands on a large circular base that is three steps high. The inscription on the sundial reads: "Placed upon the Tomb of John and Mary Stallard in Clifford Church yard, Herefordshire." Mary Stallard was buried on 3 March 1772, and John Stallard was buried on 14 July 1817, as recorded in the Clifford parish registers at the Hereford & Worcester County Record Office.
