Description
The Homestead is a cottage likely dating from the late 17th to early 18th century. It is timber-framed with plaster panels and a plain tiled roof. The cottage has two external rubble stacks, each with a detached brick shaft, located at each end. Originally it was one storey with an attic, consisting of three bays. A mid-20th century lean-to with eleven casement windows now obscures the lower storey. There are four gabled dormers with two-pane casements, and the main entrance is located on a right-hand side extension. The timber frame appears complete, despite the lean-to additions at the front and rear. The frame is three panels high from the cill to the wall plate. The presence of two end stacks suggests the cottage may have originally been designed as a pair.
