Description
The summer-house, gate, boundary walls, and associated walls located about 60 yards southwest of Perrycroft were built between 1893 and 1914 by C F A Voysey. The rubble summer-house and walls enclose the garden to the west and south of the house. The walls are approximately 10 feet high, ramping down to accommodate changes in the contour and connecting to the summer-house at the southwest corner of the garden. The summer-house features a 45-degree hipped pyramidical shingled roof with a square plan that is open to the east. It has a battered buttress at the southwest corner, and the roof is topped with a central shaft finial and a square flat cap, a design popularized by Lutyens. An iron gate opens through a semi-circular headed brick arch in the walls, located about 20 yards north of the summer-house. This structure forms a group with Perrycroft.
