Description
The barn and granary adjoining The Wern Farmhouse to the south-east were built in 1792. The structure features a combination of rubble, timber framing, and weatherboarding, topped with a corrugated metal roof. The barn consists of four bays arranged in a north/south orientation, with a wagon bay and opposing cart entries that have double doors located in the third bay from the south end. There are ventilation slits in the rubble wall, and the date "1792" is carved on the lintel above the west doorway. A rubble lean-to is present on the west side.
Inside, the wall framing includes large rectangular panels with long straight braces in the lower corners. The barn has a collar and tie-beam truss with struts at the south end, along with intermediate tie-beam trusses that feature two pairs of raking struts and two tiers of trenched purlins. The granary, which is attached to the north end of the barn, has two levels and two bays. The lower level serves as a cart store and is open at the north end. Access to the granary is provided by an external rubble staircase on the west side. This building is included for its group value.
