Description

This building is a former parish church located approximately 30 meters north of Chapel Farmhouse. It dates from the mid-12th century, with alterations made in the 13th century. The north wall was rebuilt during the 16th or 17th century, and the chancel's east end was rebuilt in 1704, reusing a 13th-century window. The church was restored by the Redundant Churches Commission in the 1970s.

The structure is made of sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a stone slate roof. It consists of a nave and chancel with a bell-cote. The south front has an altered single-light window, a small square-headed light, and a square-headed two-light window to the right of the mid-12th century south doorway. The doorway has a semi-circular headed surround with three orders of attached shafts on the two outer orders, which have decorative capitals and moulded bases. The outer arch displays chevron ornamentation, while the roll-moulded inner arch leads to a tympanum with decorative folial ornament. The entrance has a shouldered head with further decorative ornament.

On the east end, there is a re-set 13th-century single-light window with an 18th-century elliptical head, and a similar window above it. The late 13th-century west window features two trefoil-headed lights. The square bell-cote has a pyramidal roof. Inside, there is a 20th-century roof. The font is possibly from the 12th century and has a damaged plain cylindrical bowl. There is also a second font with a plain cylindrical bowl from the 12th century, which was taken from the disused church at Brobury.
